Privacy policy
What Ousa keeps about you, why, who else sees it, and how to have it removed.
Last updated 7 October 2026
Who this covers
Ousa lists private tutors in Phnom Penh. Parents and students search by subject and grade, then contact a tutor directly by phone or on Telegram. This policy covers the website at ousa.app, the Ousa app for iPhone and Android, and Parent Connect, the optional plan for tutors.
What we keep
Your account: your phone number, your name, and a photo if you add one. If you sign in with Apple, Google or Telegram, we keep the account number that service gives us, and the email address Apple or Google gives us. There is no password.
If you are a tutor: what is on your profile and listings — your name, headline, bio, photo, phone number, Telegram handle, district, subjects, grades, rates and availability — and your credentials, including any photo of a certificate or teaching ID you or Ousa took. Ousa sometimes writes a profile for a tutor before they sign up, from what the tutor told us in person.
What you do on Ousa: the searches you make (subject, grade and district), which tutor you asked to see contact details for, the tutors you save, and the reviews you write. These are linked to a random number stored in your browser or app, and to your account if you are signed in.
A phone number or Telegram handle you leave for us when a search finds nobody, so we can tell you when a matching tutor joins.
On the phone app, a notification address for your device, if you allow notifications.
Messages you send us from the help page, and the email address you give there.
Like any website, our server records the IP address and browser of each request.
If a tutor uses Parent Connect: the students they add (a name, a subject and when the next lesson is), the lessons, homework, attendance, goals and progress reports they write, their private notes, the parents they invite and confirm, and the responses those parents send.
If you subscribe to Parent Connect: your plan, where it is billed (App Store, Google Play or Paddle), its status and renewal date, and the notices those services send us about it.
What we do not do
We do not show advertising, sell data, or use analytics or advertising trackers. We never handle card or bank details: a Parent Connect subscription is paid to Apple, Google or Paddle, who collect the payment. We never read your location from your device — a district is only ever something you choose.
Why we keep it
To sign you in; to show tutor profiles and put the best-checked tutors first; to give a tutor’s contact details to the person who asks for them; to tell you when a tutor joins for a subject you searched; to learn which subjects nobody teaches yet, so we know which tutors to find next; and to answer you when you write to us.
Who can see what
A tutor profile is public: name, headline, bio, photo, listings, and which credentials Ousa has checked. A tutor’s phone number and Telegram handle are not on the page; they are shown to any visitor who taps “Show contact”, and we record that they did.
A review is shown on the tutor’s profile with your name and the description you gave of yourself.
Photos of certificates and ID documents are seen by the Ousa team and are not shown on any profile. They are stored at an address nobody could guess, but anyone who is given that address can open the photo.
Parent Connect records are private to the tutor and the parents the tutor confirms for that student. A parent sees the lessons and reports the tutor has shared, the student’s goals and attendance. Drafts and the tutor’s private notes are never shown to a parent.
Services that handle your data
Telegram delivers sign-in codes, so it receives your phone number and the code. Apple, Google and Telegram handle sign-in when you choose them. Expo, with Apple, delivers notifications to your phone. SupportDock receives what you send from the help page. Everything else is stored on Ousa’s own server.
Apple and Google take payment for a subscription bought in the app, and RevenueCat records it for us under your Ousa account number. On the website, Paddle sells the subscription as the merchant of record: it collects your payment and billing details itself, and tells us only that your account’s plan has started, renewed or ended.
Cookies
The website sets three cookies: one that keeps you signed in, one random number that tells your visits apart, and one that remembers your language. If you sign in with Apple, Google or Telegram, their sign-in buttons may set cookies of their own.
How long we keep it
Until you delete your account or ask us to remove it. Nothing is deleted on a schedule yet. Sign-in codes stop working after ten minutes.
Records of subscription payments and plan changes are kept after an account is deleted, because they are accounting records.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from the account page on the website or in the app. It happens at once. Your sign-in accounts, saved tutors, reviews and notification addresses are deleted.
Your searches and contact requests are kept without your account attached. If you were a tutor, your profile is taken down and emptied of your name, bio, photo, phone number and Telegram handle. The record of which credentials Ousa checked, with its photos and notes, is kept.
To have anything else removed — including those photos, or a number you left for a notification — write to us from the help page.
If you are a tutor, your Parent Connect students and everything recorded for them are deleted, and a plan bought on the website is cancelled at once. A plan bought in the App Store or Google Play is billed by Apple or Google, so cancel it there too — the app reminds you before you delete. If you are a parent, your links to your children’s tutors and the responses you sent are deleted; the tutor’s own records stay with the tutor.
Children
Ousa is for parents and tutors. A younger student should use it with a parent.
Parent Connect holds information about a child — a name, their lessons and their progress — entered by their tutor. A tutor should add a child only with the parent’s agreement, and the parent can disconnect from the child’s page at any time.
Changes and contact
When this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. For any question about your data, write to us from the help page.
